Origin: eastern Peloppones / Greece

Who loves the Mediterranean cuisine, can no longer do without the fine-leaved herb: We are talking about real thyme. Its seductive scent immediately makes you long for pizza and evokes associations with sunlit coasts, freshly grilled fish and a convivial round with good friends.
The dried BIO thyme from Thirea takes your senses to the sun-drenched mountains of Parnonas in Arcadia. This Greek specialty should not be missing in your kitchen.

Dried BIO Thyme from Greece: Like many other herbs, thyme can come from polluted areas. Incorrectly harvested or poorly dried thyme has less aroma and active ingredients.

That's why it pays to value quality and pay attention to where thyme comes from. This is what we have done and we are delighted with the sustainable cultivation, harvesting and drying of Thirea thyme.

You can cook the dried thyme right from the start. However, you should be a little more careful with the dosage than with fresh herbs: thyme is one of those herbs whose aromas intensify with drying, so that in the best case it develops a distinctly spicy, slightly smoky character. These aromas harmonize especially with braised meat dishes, Italian pasta dishes (e.g. spaghetti Bolognese), traditional potato dishes (e.g. potato gratin), as well as hearty stews and soups (e.g. tomato soup).

Interesting facts about thyme: Spicy, slightly sweet and extremely aromatic: thyme tastes of sun, south and Mediterranean cuisine!

The scent, taste and effect of thyme was already appreciated by the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. The ancient Romans even loved the herb so much that they brought it with them over the Alps to the conquered countries - where thyme used to be called "Roman thyme". Then, in the Middle Ages, it was monks who liked to cultivate thyme in their monastery gardens - and probably not just because of its many good qualities, since it is well known that people always ate particularly well in monasteries.

The Company: Ariston Arcadia is a cooperative in the eastern Peloppones with a focus on the best quality. The vision is to have satisfied customers who are also willing to spend a little more on food because they appreciate the quality and special characteristics.
