About loofah: The loofah (Luffa aegyptiaca, often also known as Luffa cylindrica) is an Old World crop belonging to the cucurbitaceae family. In the western world, the sponge gourd is used almost exclusively as a so-called loofah sponge: The fibrous interior of the (ripe) fruit is used as a massage and bath sponge.
