Icelandic lava salt, these are small, arctic salt flakes whose black colouring is due to the content of activated carbon from the volcanic rock of the island. The salt is extracted by hand and is a pure natural product containing the minerals of the Nordic Ice Sea.

Lava salt gives your food a special visual appeal with its colour and goes well with meat, fish and fruit.

Reykjanes has some of the cleanest seawater imaginable. Here, the nutrient-rich Arctic Polar Current sinks into the ocean depths and forms the food source for whales, seals and seabirds. This unique polar water is also the raw material for the lava sea salt flakes produced according to centuries-old tradition.  Only geothermal energy from the surrounding geysers is used to evaporate the water and extract the salt. This means that no CO2 emissions are produced. The flakes are skimmed off and dried by hand.
