Maccheroncini calabresi also called 'Maccarruni'. This is the ancient pasta shape par excellence. The recipe probably goes back to ancient Greece and later spread throughout Italy. It goes wonderfully with meaty and rich sauces.

The wheat: 100% Italian: synonymous with absolute traceability and safe and close origins. 100% slow processing with gentle drawing and long drying: its organoleptic and sensory characteristics remain intact in this.

Maccheroncini calabresi are a special type of pasta made exclusively from durum wheat semolina and water.

Selected durum wheat and fresh spring water are processed into dough, which is then slowly pressed through bronze dies at low temperatures. The Italian pasta is then air-dried at low temperatures for up to 92 hours.

Why 100% Italian wheat ?

Pastificio Astorini's spaghetti is made from the best certified Italian durum wheat, which is drawn in bronze and slowly dried. This enhances the flavour and aroma of the Italian durum wheat and preserves its organoleptic properties. Astorini produces Italian pasta with the voluntary product certification "100% Italian durum wheat", as it is made exclusively from durum wheat grown in Italy.

The company follows an environmentally sustainable production policy and in 2012 built an eco-friendly photovoltaic plant with cogeneration that, together with the various thermal solar panels, helps to significantly reduce CO2 emissions into the environment.

From the very beginning, Astorino Pasta set itself the goal of introducing special elements into its production in order to recover ancient varieties of wheat that were grown in the area in the past and to obtain semolina from them for pasta production. Starting from this idea and taking into account biodiversity, which means greater respect for the environment, the pasta factory became part of a short chain project, with the aim of obtaining zero-kilometre products whose nutritional and organoleptic requirements are better than those of conventional production, guaranteeing the following values
