Grape varieties: 100% Nero d'Avola

Description: This Di Giovanna Nero d'Avola is a powerful, 'masculine' wine from the distinctive Sicilian grape, with its soft, full flavour. Thanks to careful work in the vineyard with a 50% pruning of the grapes, this wine is very dense and aromatic. The unique terroir and climate give it an expressive minerality. 
Deep dark, intense red, chocolate notes covered by ripe cherry & wild berries, with a light roasted flavour. Pleasantly silky structure with a long, great finish.

Drinking temperature: approx. 18°c

Production and ageing: Hand-picked grapes from the Paradiso & Fiuminello vineyards are destemmed and pressed. Maceration for 12-15 days at a controlled temperature. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks. 50% of the Nero d'Avola remains in 2 year old French oak barrels for 6 months to achieve fullness and softness on the palate. The wine continues to refine for a further 6 months in the bottle before being released onto the market

Winery: The Di Giovanna family has been growing organic wine in western Sicily for five generations, near the small town of Sambuca di Sicilia. The brothers Gunther & Klaus run the 60-hectare vineyard and the winery where the hand-picked grapes are pressed and bottled. All the wines come from grapes grown on the estate's own vineyard, which is certified organic and certified by 'Suolo e Salute SRL'.
